Our staff will play a key role in facilitating culturally enriching experiences for our campers, so we are carefully looking at applicants to find that perfect fit. Reference request forms will be sent and submitted digitally via an online form upon receipt of your application email. A minimum of three written references will be required, in addition to the background check that will be conducted. References should not be related to you, the same age as you, or live in the same house. As part of your background check, you will need to provide a police record that has been performed within the last 12 months.
Initial interviews will be conducted via video conferencing (Skype or Google Hangouts). For most positions, camp work dates will be from July 18th - August 10th, 2018. We are primarily looking for residents of the island to fill these positions.

Program Director
Program Directors should have a background in teaching, educational leadership, youth development, or a similar field. They must have experience managing staff and creating/approving age-appropriate lesson plans with a focus on Jamaican culture. The Program Director position requires participation in a series of (mostly) virtual pre-camp training sessions in the late spring and facilitating three days of all-staff training before camp begins. Additional responsibilities may include (but certainly are not limited to):
- Supervising up to 25 counselors and junior counselors
- Creating and managing overall program content and design
- Create and update the daily schedule along with special events and rainy days
- Evaluate quality of instruction and activities
- Coach instructors on appropriate group behavior management strategies
- Work closely with Leadership team to ensure camper safety in all activities
Day Camp Counselors
Counselors are responsible for a group of 15 to 20 children on a daily basis. They will:
- Ensure the safety of the children
- Manage their behavior
- Act as a role model and mentor
- Model constructive participation in all daily activities
- Work closely with Program Director to ensure safety of all children
- Counselors must be at least 18 years of age. All Counselors must participate in three days of training before camp begins.
Day Camp Jr. Counselors
Day Camp JCs are required to have previously participated in an organized extra-curricular activity. They will be placed in a group of about 15 to 20 children, providing support to 2-3 supervising counselors. All Day Camp JCs must participate in the three-day pre-camp training and will continue to be mentored and trained throughout the summer.
Resident Camp Counselors
Resident Camp Counselors are responsible for a group of 10 to 15 children on a daily basis. They will:
- Ensure the safety of the children
- Manage their behavior
- Act as a role model and mentor
- Model constructive participation in all daily activities
- Work closely with Program Director to ensure safety of all children
- Counselors must be at least 18 years of age. All Counselors must participate in three days of training before camp begins
Cultural Facilitators
Must be a proven subject matter expert in at least one area of Jamaica's cultural arts and folk forms. They will need to:
- Plan activities that give children the opportunity to express themselves creatively
- Facilitate activities that give children a sense of accomplishment that comes from mastering techniques and completing projects
- Use group management skills to engage all children in daily activities
