Passport Check

I recently sat down for a chat with another Bobbie. She's our travel agent, helping to make sure that our families can coordinate their vacations and not miss out on Irie Camp Jamaica's awesomeness. As I was picking her brain, she dropped a truth bomb that never crossed my mind. What was that juicy fruit?

Make sure that your passport has a minimum of 6 months’ validity after your scheduled date of return to your country. Otherwise, you aren’t likely to be admitted into your flight. 

Yeah, insert dropped jaw and bulging eyes here. I asked why. Why wouldn't I be allowed to use my valid passport? I mean, it would still be a valid form of ID. 

Well, other than it being the requirement for entry in many countries, I could see a few hypothetical scenarios where travel plans could go awry and you would be unable to get back to your country of origin before six months.

Since Jamaica is among the countries that follow "The Six Month Rule," I wanted to be sure to bring it to your attention, especially if you book your travel independently.
